Simulation 14, Upgraded to Unity v3.5
Here’s the latest simulation! Some of the new features include:
• Improved exterior landscaping
• Addition of Monorail Pink
• Improved sound in the queue area (sound is affected by the space that you’re in. Plus travel poster audio!
• Improved graphics and “bloom” effects
• Moving sidewalk has returned!
• Ride vehicles now move “smoothly” and don’t create the “jerky” effect you may or may not have noticed in earlier versions.
• Flashlight! Press “F” to turn on or off your handy-dandy flashlight to go exploring those dark back hallways!
Check it out, and as always, comments suggestions and feedback are welcomed and encouraged.

Very very impressive, as usual. The fly-in sequence, the improved lighting, the flashlight, the monorail, Spaceship Earth’s lighting, it’s all wonderful. Perhaps a bit too much bloom in places but that’s a little nitpicky. Pretty excellent though.
My one and only suggestion, as always, is to build this so it will play with NaCl in Google Chrome so that it’s viewable on Linux.
Astounding. Please keep up the good work…this is gob-smacking.
You’re doing a great job with the simulation! The back halls are a little creepy in the dark, even with the flashlight, but it’s going great!
Horizons is doing well in your hands.
I’m getting an unbearable amount of lag. Took me 10 minutes to get in the building. I’ll try again tomorrow.
I love what you’re doing here. Fantastic! But, just like the previous commenter, unfortunately this version is way too laggy for me. I had similar problems with some of your earlier versions, but not the past several iterations. With this one, I couldn’t even get in the building because of the lag.
Ok, I’ve uploaded a new version that hopefully addresses some of the performance issues that you guys are experience. Reload, and tell me if it’s more responsive for you.
Chris, been following your project since 2010 and mad props for working so dedicatingly hard on this and recreating this iconic EPCOT ride! I don’t know if I would classify as an important detail, but one thing I noticed absent in your simulation that I vividly remember every time I rode the ride back in the 80′s was whenever you made it to the Futureport board (in the above pic) one of those listing lines was always blinking. Would be a nice small detail to incorporate in if at all possible. Always look forward to continuing to follow your talented progress on this project!
Re: The blinking lines
That’s a funny comment Jason as whenever there’s a new build I always look to see if that board was updated…:)
Great job on this recreation!! I’ve been following the guys over at Mesa Verde Times and their explorations and it’s pretty cool to see it all come to life since I never got a chance to ride this great attraction.
Yes! Your new upload to this version works perfectly (for me at least). Thanks!
Oh my…great work…looks fantastic..Even better than before…Just a bit too much light in some areas (Photos in the queue.)
Gives me chills!
I would say that the outside area and the queue are just about perfect at this point. However, I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing more of the actual ride complete. Any chance the next few updates will have more ride sets and any animatronic experiments?
I just get a black screen when I try to load the simulation. The Unity Player doesn’t even show up.
And it worked just fine on Simulation 13.
Marked improvement, the flashlight really helps in those dark spaces, removes the creepiness, its all coming along nicely keep it up.
So I headed left around the building and found the invisible wall. After running along the wall I eventually got back into the woods and was able to break left harder toward WoL. After exploring that area – creepy in the dark woods with a flashlight, for sure – I headed back towards our beloved attraction when I discovered that I was now outside the invisible barrier. Oops. SO I backtracked and finally got around to the side door all the way around the WoM side of the building.
Once inside I found the central stairwell and climbed all the way to the top, even jumping onto the floating stair section to reach the top doorway. HOW COOL to walk through that door and see most of the ride vehicles snaking around below! FREAKIN AWESOME!! I got a little worried when I couldn’t get back down the stairwell as easily as I had ascended, but eventually made it down.
Also managed to get up on the bathtub in the easy living scene, and find the ‘triangular dead space’, although it isn’t yet like what you see in the MVT video. Oh, and the hallways with lights…should they be so dark without the flashlight?
Anyway, keep up the great work! I will definately have fun visiting this version again and again. Can’t hardly wait for more!
VIDEO?
I agree with Chris, minus the caps-lock.
I upgraded to Unity 3.5, and now the Unity Player won’t even load in my browser. It acts like it isn’t even installed. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it dozens of times, but the issue persists.
A full video of the new version would be nice.
I’m having the same problem… or it’s something completely different. Unity loads and when the first image comes up (the pink monorail), unity crashes and asks if I want to report the problem. I can’t even see the new simulation. I wonder what the problem might be.
Yeah, that’s totally different. My Unity Player is installed, but when I load the simulation, Chrome acts like it isn’t installed.
So cool to go under the building and look up at the winding labyrinth of track and hallways. Tried to go up for a top for a downward pov as Galen suggests but keep getting stuck. Something to occupy the time until the next update.
Wow!!!!! This is the first time I’ve seen this, and it is absolutely amazing!! I love getting lost in the dark corridors! It runs very smoothly on my machine (Core2 Duo 3.0ghz).
I can’t wait to see the next version! I know I’m going to be checking this site every day from now on!
Great Work!!
Quick question. . .I’m VERY new to this and am excited to see it all. . .but lemme’ ask. . .once I get to the ride vehicle, how do I “get in”? The only way I’ve accomplished this is by getting in sideways, thus obstructing my view of things. I’m sure it’s easy, I’m just not sure how it’s done. . . .
